The vast majority of Americans support expanded background checks for gun sales—more than 1.4 million people signed our petition demanding action from Congress.
Watch this video of the petition delivery—then add your name to say you won't back down from this fight:

What impressed me most on Thursday was getting a chance to talk with survivors like Pam Simon, Sami Rahamim, and Lori Haas.

You'll see in the video that these folks have turned their personal pain into action, and a force for good. It's enough to change hearts and minds.

OFA volunteers got a chance to meet with a few leaders in Congress, like Rep. Mike Thompson, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who asked all of us to keep fighting -- and even gave folks a few tips on how to keep the pressure on their fellow lawmakers.

Senator Reid even tweeted: "Today, we received a petition from over 1.4 million Americans who demand action on background checks. This fight is not over."

I am more confident than ever that, if we keep working and making our voices heard, we can and will win this. The petition delivery was a big moment -- but it's not the end of this fight.

Watch the video and say you're ready to stay at it:

P.S. -- One of the most exciting parts of the day was completely spontaneous: Pam Simon, a survivor of the Tucson shooting, ran into her senator, Jeff Flake, and talked with him about his no vote. Read what happened next.

Democrats Out Progress Kentucky as Wiretapper of McConnell Meeting

Kyle Becker

Democrats are distancing themselves from Progress Kentucky, which is accused of recording a private strategy session involving Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The strategy session included discussion of opposition research on one-time Senate prospect and Hollywood actress Ashley Judd that was conducted on staffers’ personal time. Jefferson Democratic political operative Jacob Conway outed Progress Kentucky founders Shawn Reilly and Curtis Morrison, who bragged to him about having recorded the meeting.

Mother Jones published the results of Progress Kentucky’s ‘wiretapping’ (much like it published the oddly edited video of a private Romney event last election season containing the infamous 47% comment, obviously referring to the certified 46.4% of people who pay no federal income taxes).
In Conway’s own words, several months transpired before McConnell’s complaint surfaced, and then he decided to distance the Democrat Party from Progress Kentucky by contacting WFPL. It is not the first time the left-wing group has made headlines, either: it also viciously attacked McConnell’s wife.

Ed Morrisey at Hot Air writes an interesting post on the subject musing the Democrats are hoping that Progress Kentucky is a GOP front group. It’s as if Democrats are unable to recognize dirty tactics within their own left-wing sphere, because the main thing that registers to them is that Republicans are evil, and therefore, anything goes. This time, the lefties got busted; but the Democrat Party only cut ties after the source of the dirt was discovered and the FBI got involved.

Think by now people know liberals are not to be trusted. They lie, blame, sit on their fat azzes and want what others have. I don't want them around me.

Catching politicians and front organizations in public places and at their front desk is hardly comparable to wire tapping a private meeting. This is identical to Watergate, but nothing will happen. If no charges came from Fast and Furious and no wrong doing found in the events leading up to Benghazi, nothing will come out of this either.

  • Trish Arreche-King · Top Commenter
I have to say I was a little confused by the statement that they were recording from the hallway. So I went back and listed to the recording on mother jones. Sorry to say it doesn't "sound" like a recording made from outside the room. The room is very quite and it sounds like the mike is directly in the conversation. I think the Democratic Party is trying to distance themselves far far from this situation because of the implications involved. I personally believe the office was bugged because that's what it sounds like.

How is this any different than WATERGATE?? The parties have simply been switched! Where is the scandal?

But that was the republican dirty tricks machine, lol this was just a honest mistake made by some poor, underpaid marxists, who only meant to let other people hear what they accidentally overheard.

Is your argument that since Richard Nixon was a law-breaker, then the Democrats should be able to to anything? That kind of preschooler mentality leads to laws that mean nothing and anarchy but I do realize that's what the Democrats want ...

    • Patrick Wisenbaker · Charleston, South Carolina
Umm.... Watergate was a scandal. Nixon resigned over it, and it shamed the whole party. So I'm wondering, how low information can you get?

The Dims picked a fall guy to eat this one. Because they know if the FBI catch them it's a felony. So they picked the group that had allready shot themselves in the foot with the vile attack on McConnells wife. They are allways ready to through someone under the bus. I hope the FBI do a real investagation. But it will probable be another (in)Justist Dept. coverup.

Hey, a Democrat actually REPORTED the two idiots! "Jefferson County Democratic Party official Jacob Conway came forward to reporters at WPFL News in Louisville, Ky., to allege that "Shawn Reilly and Curtis Morrison, who founded and volunteered for Progress Kentucky, respectively". O, and Mitch McConnell has been hit with an ethics complaint over the leaked Ashley Judd tape. Naughty to use tax-payer money to try and smear an opponent. Do it on your own dime.
............... “Using taxpayer-funded resources to pay staffers to dig up dirt on political opponents isn’t just an ethics violation, it’s a federal crime,” said CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan. “As Sen. McConnell requested, the FBI is investigating the recording. A thorough and fair investigation necessitates the bureau also inquire into whether Sen. McConnell himself violated the law.”

I think McConnell makes a good case for term limits (as has been advocated on this site) and come on, Republicans, he's a RINO, right? He's holding on by the skin of his teeth.

    • Aruana Zeelie · Top Commenter
.................Conway has also appeared on Fox News, where he explained that he made his public allegations against Reilly and Morrison because he saw the McConnell recording as potentially damaging to the Democratic Party. Via TPM:
"The only reason that I came forward with what I knew was I was trying to protect the Democratic Party," Conway said. "I believe in our party's values, and I was doing what I thought was best for the party because I did not want their bad behavior, their poor mistakes -- I shouldn't say 'bad behavior' -- their mistakes, their lack of judgment to hurt our party's efforts here in the state of Kentucky and in Jefferson County, here in Louisville."

The President's Budget for Fiscal Year 2014

The President’s Fiscal Year 2014 Budget demonstrates that we can make critical investments to strengthen the middle class, create jobs, and grow the economy while continuing to cut the deficit in a balanced way.
The President believes we must invest in the true engine of America’s economic growth – a rising and thriving middle class.  He is focused on addressing three fundamental questions: How do we attract more jobs to our shores? How do we equip our people with the skills needed to do the jobs of the 21st Century? How do we make sure hard work leads to a decent living?  The Budget presents the President’s plan to address each of these questions.
To make America once again a magnet for jobs, the Budget invests in high-tech manufacturing and innovation, clean energy, and infrastructure, while cutting red tape to help businesses grow.  To give workers the skills they need to compete in the global economy, it invests in education from pre-school to job training.  To ensure hard work is rewarded, it raises the minimum wage to $9 an hour so a hard day’s work pays more.
The Budget does all of these things as part of a comprehensive plan that reduces the deficit and puts the Nation on a sound fiscal course.  Every new initiative in the plan is fully paid for, so they do not add a single dime to the deficit.  The Budget also incorporates the President’s compromise offer to House Speaker Boehner to achieve another $1.8 trillion in deficit reduction in a balanced way.  When combined with the deficit reduction already achieved, this will allow us to exceed the goal of $4 trillion in deficit reduction, while growing the economy and strengthening the middle class.  By including this compromise proposal in the Budget, the President is demonstrating his willingness to make tough choices and his seriousness about finding common ground to further reduce the deficit.

Yahoo News The liberal News Report Opinion of federal government hits record low: poll

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Americans' opinion of the federal government has fallen to a record low even as they continue to view local and state governments favorably, according to Pew Research Center survey released on Monday.

Just 28 percent of Americans rate the government in Washington favorably, the lowest percentage ever in a Pew survey and down 5 percentage points from a year ago, Pew said in a statement.
The favorability rating has fallen steadily from a high of 82 percent in November 2001, after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.
The March survey showed Democrats with a more favorable opinion than Republicans of the federal government, at 41 percent to 13 percent.

Democrats' opinion has fallen 20 percentage points since July 2009, six months after President Barack Obama took office. The Republicans' favorable opinion is down 11 percentage points.

The poll shows that 63 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of their local government, virtually unchanged since 2007. Fifty-seven percent have a favorable view of their state governments, up 5 percentage points from 2012.

Fully 71 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents who live in Republican-led states - those with a Republican governor and state legislature - have a favorable opinion of their state government.
But only 30 percent of Republicans living in Democratic-led states view their state governments favorably.
Democrats and Democratic leaners in Democratic-led states have a 64 percent positive view of their state governments. Among Democrats living in Republican-led states, 50 percent have a favorable opinion and 46 percent have an unfavorable opinion of their state government.
The survey was conducted March 13-17 among 1,501 adults. The margin of error is 2.9 percentage points.

Dirty Dirty Dirty – FBI Witness Murdered Who Had Access & Was To Testify In Obama/Soetoro Passport FBI Investigation.

Tuesday, February 26, 2013 8:12

Another day, another creepy murder related in some way to Barack Obama. There is something about this guy that leads to unusual murders wherever his name arises. The most recent unusual death involves the fatal shooting of a key witness in the passport file fraud investigation. If you recall, during the campaign it was discovered that Obama, Hillary and McCain’s passport files had been breached.

It was Obama’s that was reported first with the implication that Hillary had something to do with it. Then, sort of as an afterthought, it was reported that both Hillary’s and McCain’s files were also violated.

There has been some speculation that Hillary’s and McCain’s files were violated as a cover-up for the real focus of the breach, which was Obama’s passport file. Some people wonder what was removed from his file and if it was part of an effort to make sure no one found out about Obama’s shady past.

Like, when did he actually first get a US passport? What is on that passport? Like maybe his real name? His place of birth? His parentage? (If you think I exaggerate the importance of the birth certificate and other biological information, it has just been reported that Obama’s lawyer, Robert Bauer, was paid $688,000 this year to make sure no one sees any of it).

Anyway, the story is reported in the Washington Times:

A key witness in a federal probe into passport information stolen from the State Department was fatally shot in front of a District church, the Metropolitan Police Department said yesterday.
Lt. Quarles Harris Jr., 24, who had been cooperating with federal investigators, was found late Thursday night slumped dead inside a car, in front of the Judah House Praise Baptist Church in Northeast, said Cmdr. Michael Anzallo, head of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
Cmdr. Anzallo said a police officer was patrolling the neighborhood when gunshots were heard, then Lt. Harris was found dead inside the vehicle, which investigators would describe only as a blue car.
Emergency medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Capps Law: Ticking Time Bomb Inside Obamacare.
City police said they do not know whether his death was a direct result of his cooperation with federal investigators.

“We don’t have any information right now that connects his murder to that case,” Cmdr. Anzallo said.
Say what? We don’t know if it was connected? Hmmm, somehow, nothing ever gets connected where Barry is involved and somehow the murders always go unsolved.
The Washington Times reported April 5 that contractors for the State Department had improperly accessed passport information for presidential candidates Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John McCain, which resulted in a series of firings that reached into the agency’s top ranks.
Sorry Tommy Coburn: Obama & The Banking Cartel Already Cut Education Assistance By $100 Billion, Already Cut Food Stamps By $2.2 Billion, & Health Care By +$6.6 Billion.
One agency employee, who was not identified in documents filed in U.S. District Court, was implicated in a credit-card fraud scheme after Lt. Harris told federal authorities he obtained “passport information from a co-conspirator who works for the U.S. Department of State.”

Now, somehow, I fail to be convinced that someone violated the law to get into Obama’s passport file to commit credit card fraud. This is not a logical thought.

I’m not sure where the Washington Times got the information for that last paragraph, but are they saying that this Lt. Harris’s name was openly mentioned in a court complaint and they had him wandering around without any type of security protection?
How many dead bodies does it take to figure out something strange is happening here?
Let’s see, we have three at Trinity United Church of Christ (murders never solved):
…the murder of Donald Young, a 47-year-old choir master at former Rev. Jeremiah Wright‘s Trinity United Church of Christ—the same congregation that Obama has attended for the past 20 years. Two other young black men that attended the same church—Larry Bland and Nate Spencer—were also murdered execution style with bullets to the backs of their heads—all within 40 days of each other, beginning in November 2007. All three were openly homosexual.
In Arkansas, we have the pre-convention murder of the Dem Party Chairman, who rumor has it, was not going to switch his vote from Hillary to Obama. Someone was attached to this murder, but he is also dead. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for the murder; the guy was mentally unstable, but then so are most murderers.

Barrack Hussein Obama The Community Organizer? Not Quite.michelle-obama-ugly-1
The real question is, who is the President of the United States and will we survive his presidency? All that I know is that I am really relieved that I have never met this walking death sentence, seen this walking death sentence, nor talked to this walking death sentence. Otherwise, I would be very worried.

A TALIBAN TERRORIST versus A JEWISH SALESMAN!

A fleeing Taliban terrorist, desperate for water, was plodding through the Afghan desert when he saw something far off in the distance.

Hoping to find water, he hurried toward the mirage, only to find a very frail little old Jewish man standing at a small makeshift display rack - selling ties.

The Taliban terrorist asked, "Do you have water?"

The Jewish man replied, "I have no water. Would you like to buy a tie? They are only $5."

The Taliban shouted hysterically, "Idiot Infidel! I do not need such an over-priced western adornment.
I spit on your ties. I need water!”

"Sorry, I have none - just ties - pure silk - and only $5."

"Pahh! A curse on your ties, I should wrap one around your scrawny little neck and choke the life out of you but... I must conserve my energy and find water!"

"Okay," said the little old Jewish man,“It does not matter that you do not want to buy a tie from me or that you hate me, threaten my life and call me infidel. I will show you that I am bigger than any of that. If you continue over that hill to the east for about two miles, you will find a restaurant. It has the finest food and all the ice-cold water you need... Go In Peace."

Cursing him again, the desperate Taliban staggered away over the hill.

Several hours later he crawled back, almost dead and gasped...
